Planning permission has been granted to extend and enhance the coffee shop and restaurant at The Old Barn Garden Centre in Sussex.
This project is being developed under the new ownership of the Tates of Sussex Garden Centre Group with the help and guidance of Folkes Architects of Storrington, West Sussex.
Horsham District Council have now approved the contemporary barn building which has been designed to reflect the form and proportions of the traditional Sussex barns, but contrast with the existing materials of the neighbouring buildings. This is intended to not only provide a striking and sophisticated aesthetic, but also to give longevity to the life of the building by use of the zinc cladding.
It is intended to incorporate an exposed glulam frame inside the new building to echo the exposed oak frame construction used in the adjoining barn buildings – and constructed with modern SIPs to provide both good quality insulation and a reliable fixing platform for the sleek, contemporary lines of the zinc cladding.
The Tates of Sussex Garden Centre Group are intending to invest £2million into Old Barn Garden Centre over the course of three years.
