Leading specialist building contractor Prater has landed a contract at Manchester Airport's new Terminal Two building.
This contract follows the firm's success delivering a full envelope package for the Pier One and Link Bridge project at the airport, which included the design, supply and installation of the roofing, glazing, cladding and soffits.
The company's work at the Terminal Two building will include the design, supply and installation of a standing seam roof, a blast enhanced façade, an acoustic façade, and composite cladding.
These projects form part of Manchester Airport's £1 billion expansion project which is expected to increase check-in speed as well as the speed of security checks, increasing footfall from 27 million to 45 million over a 10 to 15 year programme period. It is expected to be complete in 2023.
"We are thrilled to carry out further works on this flagship project," commented Chris Leach, Infrastructure Lead at Prater. "The Prater team has been working closely with Laing O'Rourke and the rest of the supply chain since the initial works began, and we've repeated our ethos of early collaboration for the Terminal 2 element of the project.
"This ethos has allowed us to pre-plan and schedule works strategically, ensuring safety and quality on-site and avoiding costly project delays. It's this detailed experience in the aviation sector and our successful work on the Pier One and Link Bridge that enables us to provide quality and consistency to our clients, project after project."
