Two new appointments have been made to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry panel for Phase 2 of its work.
Professor Nabeel Hamdi, an accomplished academic with an international reputation in housing and participatory design and planning, and Thouria Istephan, a widely respected partner at Foster + Partners architectural practice, will join the Inquiry panel.
The Grenfell Tower Inquiry is an independent public inquiry, set up to examine the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the fire at Grenfell Tower on 14 June 2017.
Announcing the appointments Prime Minister Theresa May said: "I am confident these new appointments will ensure the Inquiry panel has the diversity of skills and experience necessary for the scope and complexity of issues to be investigated by Phase 2 of the Inquiry's work.
"This will help get to the truth of what happened, deliver justice and ensure that a tragedy like the fire in Grenfell Tower can never happen again."
Phase 2 of the inquiry will look at the tower's original design, construction, composition; modifications to interior and exterior of the building; the fire and safety measures within the building at the time of the fire; and inspections. It will also cover management, communications with residents and several other factors.
