Wates Construction has strengthened its business in North Wales after securing a place on a new £500 million framework.

The North Wales Construction Partnership framework will facilitate the construction of new schools and public sector projects across the region.

The four-year framework places community benefits at its core by developing local supply chains, improving the built environment, creating sustainable buildings and delivering added value with targeted investment in employment, apprenticeships and training. It is owned by the six North Wales Local Authorities of Denbighshire, Conwy, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Wrexham and Anglesey.

The framework also aims to place community benefits at its core and will support and develop sustainable local supply chains as well as create apprenticeships and training for communities across North Wales.

This appointment builds on Wates' current housing portfolio with Flintshire Council. Launched in 2015, the council's Strategic Housing and Regeneration Partnership (SHARP) will see the creation of 500 new homes across the county.

Alongside the regional Framework, the principles adopted will be applied to projects across the region to ensure consistency, drive delivery of the community benefits, develop continuous improvement and set new benchmarks for best practice.
