As the weather has been dry with occasional showers Cromwell Wood has been busy with development projects for our housing, waste and quarrying clients and despite Brexit most of our clients are busy with the construction sector. Most of the consultants we use for ecology, landscape noise, dust, and drainage, are busy and the lead times at present can be up to six weeks.
We are currently working on our geotechnical assessments for a number of clients who have them undertaken every two years, or when there is a design change to the quarry.
We have been providing planning advice to three quarrying clients and a waste company, who we have long term relationships with and have secured planning permission for extension of areas to work on two quarries who supply building stone and sand, and an extension of time to complete the restoration of a sand quarry with recovered excavation waste for the beneficial use of the land to grassland wild flower meadow.
New Clients
We continue to attract new clients by word of mouth, which is the best source of new business, and we want to thank our clients for recommending the company to others who are seeking professional advice in a cost effective way, backed by years of experience.
A Visit To Ireland
Our senior mining engineer visited Ireland in December to review the reserves of high PSV stone from granite resources in the West of Ireland for a client and visited over 20 sites in two 2-week trips. Most of the quarries were small by comparison to quarries in the UK but were well established family firms who provided excellent products to the local and regional area, from County Mayo, Galway and Clare, into the regional towns.
The Republic's planning and permitting systems are familiar, as they are based on the same system as Australia and the UK, so our senior director is available to assist quarrying companies in Ireland on any new projects.
