Morgan Sindall Infrastructure has won a £1.6 billion contract with Sellafield Ltd, securing a place on its 20-year Programme and Project Partnership (PPP).
The firm will provide the civils construction management (Lot 3) of the PPP.
The partnership is designed to establish long-term relationships to enable efficient project delivery of the site's decommissioning programme, as well as providing local economic benefits.
Comprising four lots - including Integration, Design and Engineering and Process Construction Management - the PPP is estimated to be worth a total £5 billion over 20 years.
Simon Smith, managing director of Morgan Sindall Infrastructure said: "We are delighted to have been awarded a place on the Programme and Project Partnership. This enables us to build on the support we are currently providing to Sellafield Ltd through the Infrastructure Strategic Alliance and continue our investment in the local community."
Paul Foster, CEO for Sellafield Ltd, added: "The award of the PPP contracts marks the start of a new, and very different, journey for Sellafield Ltd and our supply chain partners. Our number one priority is making Sellafield safer, sooner, and a key part of this is establishing closer relationships with other expert organisations.
"Working side by side with our four long-term partners, as one team, will help transform the way we deliver projects safely, quickly, and cost effectively.
"The new approach also provides huge opportunities for our communities, through 20 years of sustainable employment in the design and construction supply chain, enhancing the skills of the workforce, while helping realise the economic ambitions of our community, to achieve its unlimited potential.
"We look forward to working in partnership to progress the safe, secure completion of our clean-up mission."
