Former director general of the CBI and government minister Lord Digby Jones has been appointed as chairman of Lancashire-based raised access flooring specialists Metalfloor UK.
Philip Preston, managing director at Metalfloor, said: "We're delighted and privileged to have secured the expertise of Lord Digby Jones to support the next phase of our company's development and growth."
Lord Jones brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge and is well known on the world stage for championing UK businesses large and small.
Lord Jones said: "It's an absolute privilege to be appointed chairman of Metalfloor. SMEs are the lifeblood and engine room of our country. Those in public life, and involved only in big business, can easily work in a bubble divorced from the real world and ignorant of the issues that challenge smaller businesses daily.
"I shall learn from Metalfloor just as, hopefully, they'll benefit from what I can bring to the party. Here's to a great future!"
The company's financial director, Jacqui Ward, added: "Lord Jones has joined us at an important stage, where Metalfloor UK is undergoing a period of sustained growth. We're looking forward to the opportunities and challenges this exciting new appointment will deliver."
