Proposals for a new footbridge in Derbyshire have moved forward.

Councillors are set to consider proposals for a footbridge next to the road bridge over Bentley Brook, on the A515 at Fenny Bentley, next Thursday, 28 February.

Councillor Simon Spencer, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Infrastructure, said: "For most part, the A515 is well-served by footpaths but where the road bridge crosses the brook the road narrows and there is no space for a footpath. This means pedestrians are forced into an extremely busy road, which is the main route between Buxton and Ashbourne for quarry lorries.

"There is a holiday park, pub and trail close to this bridge, so the area is very popular with walkers and visitors trying to cross what is potentially a very dangerous spot, considering the volume, size and speed of traffic."

The bridge is expected to cost around £100,000.
