UK construction giant Balfour Beatty has secured a multi-million pound contract in China under joint venture, Gammon Construction.

Balfour Beatty's 50:50 Far East JV, Gammon will develop the HK$2.9 billion (c. £289 million) Homantin luxury residential project in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

It will involve the construction of six residential towers, a clubhouse, outdoor swimming pool, and a two-level basement with car park areas.

Gammon, who has been working on the foundations of this project since 2017, will employ 1,100 workers during peak construction.

A number of innovative technologies will also be deployed during the project, including 3D scanning for data collection, which will ensure an accurate and swift survey process, as well as defect management tools such as Drones and InfraRed Cameras.

Thomas Ho, Chief Executive of Gammon said: "After the successful completion of the foundation works we are delighted to be trusted to deliver the full completed works for the Homantin residential project. The successful delivery of schemes such as the Mount Nicholson and the Le Cap residential development is testament to Gammon's experience in the construction of high-end residential buildings which require excellent craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail."

The Homantin Luxury residential project is expected to be completed in 2020.
