The UK's first ever all-female bricklaying competition has been announced by Forterra.

Bricklaying Forterra Females (BFF) is a ground-breaking national contest which aims to find the best female apprentice and student bricklayers in the country, while also encouraging more girls and women to consider bricklaying, and the construction industry, as a career.

The team competition will take place at Havering College in London on 04 March 2019, the first day of National Apprentice Week and four days before International Women's Day.


BFF is open to all Junior and Senior female bricklaying students currently at colleges in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but is limited to a maximum of two students per college. There are spaces for 16 female students, which will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

The competition is supported by the Brick Development Association (BDA) the Association of Brick Contractors (AofBC) and Havering College.
