A major milestone has been marked on the delivery of Maghull High School's new two-storey school block on Gainsborough Avenue, Liverpool.
Wates Construction has officially completed the steel frame, edging the project closer to completion.
When complete, the new block will include a new school hall, dining room, dedicated performing arts suite and two floors of cutting-edge classrooms. It will also feature more than 4,000 tonnes of concrete and 250 tonnes of steel.
Pupils and staff of the school joined Wates and the Department of Education to celebrate the milestone.
Paul Dodsworth, Managing Director, Wates Construction North, said: "Work has been progressing exceptionally well at Maghull High School and the team is on track to reach the completion date of spring 2019. It was fantastic to have the students and staff take part in the ceremony, as it not only marks a great achievement for the project but also the start of a brand new future for the school."
Headteacher, Davina Aspinall added: "This is a wonderful opportunity for all of our pupils, staff and the community. We hope it will reflect hopes and aspirations for the future and uplift experiences at Maghull High School for all."
The project is part of the DfE's Priority School Building Programme 2 (PSBP2) and is the first of three school rebuilds that Wates Construction will deliver across the North West.
