TVAS has undertaken a detailed geophysical survey of a planned development site near Highworth, Wiltshire.
While archaeological sites were known for the region there had been none recorded within the proposal site or its immediate surroundings.
For the 6.3ha survey they utilised two Bartington Grad 601-2 gradiometers mounted on their non-magnetic cart, which enabled rapid coverage of the entire site area.
Once the data was processed it became clear that TVAS had located what appeared to be a compact settlement of prehistoric data.
The penannular and linear magnetic anomalies indicated the presence of buried ring gullies and enclosure ditches, the physical remains of roundhouses and fields.
