The University of Nottingham's £15 million George Green Engineering library project has been celebrated at a recent awards ceremony.

The Building East Midlands scheme secured a Highly Commended prize at the Concrete Society's annual awards.

It involved the refurbishment of an existing 1960s building, along with the construction of a new modern curved extension at the front of the building.

Announcing the award, the Concrete Society judges commented: "The simplicity of the refurbishment and extension belies the complexity of the design and execution. An excellent example of reinvigoration… very well thought out and executed."

Jon Marston, Managing Director of Building East Midlands, added: "The library was a fantastic, challenging project for all who worked on it. The level of skill and commitment required in producing a successful result was exceptional and the whole team richly deserve this award."
