Seven CITB Apprentices Selected For Harron Homes Scheme

Construction News Image
Seven apprentices from the Construction Industry Training Board have been selected for a Harron Homes' programme.

The property developer chose the apprentices after 18 finalists were interviewed and assessed.

The Apprentice Scheme programme will take place at Harron's Leeds and Chesterfield offices.

They will now go through a two-week trial at one of the Harron Homes sites closest to home, where they will get the chance to observe and learn various trades such as roofing, carpentry, tiling and more. The trial will give the apprentices a chance to find out whether they have found a field they want to progress in and give them practical experience of working in the construction industry.

Following the successful completion of the two-week period, the participants will be given the chance to stay on a permanent contract and complete a Level 3 Apprenticeship in their chosen field.

Lee Kilby, Construction Director at Harron Homes Midlands, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for our seven apprentices - the candidates faced some stiff competition, and we are confident we have managed to find the best of the best. The apprenticeship provides youthful ideas to our business and aims to bring skilled trade and management staff to the industry. We are delighted the apprentices have joined us and hope they will find their time with Harron Homes educational and inspiring."

Susan Geary, Apprenticeship Officer at CITB, added: "I'm delighted for the seven CITB apprentices who have been chosen to take part in the Harron Homes Apprentice Scheme. It's a fantastic opportunity to get on-site experience and kick-start their career in construction. Apprentices are the lifeblood of our industry and with over 158,000 new construction jobs to open up over the next five years, schemes like this are vital. We look forward to working again with Harron Homes in facilitating future Apprentice Schemes."
