Mabey's UK construction services business has become one of the first UK companies to achieve the new health and safety standard ISO 45001.
Awarded by global certification body National Quality Assurance (NQA), the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OH&S) standard is designed to ensure organisations around the world operate in a consistent, healthy and safe manner.
Companies achieve the standard by creating a safe, healthy and sustainable working environment globally.
ISO 450001 is a successor to the OHSAS 18001 standard and covers areas including hazard identification and assessment of risks, emergency preparedness and response, international and external communication, as well as management review.
Mabey has been recognised in all these areas, including its ability to streamline internal processes, increase resilience through proactive risk prevention, strengthen legal and regulatory compliance and continue its role as a leader in occupational safety and sustainability.
Gordon MacDonald, CEO, Mabey Hire said: "We work hard to deliver projects more quickly, safely and efficiently across the UK, but what's more important is making sure we guarantee a safe and sustainable working environment for all those involved. This global ISO 45001 accreditation is a testament to our commitment to this vital cause and will help us streamline processes, maintain efficiencies and proactively reduce-risk. It's an extra special honour to be one of the first companies in the UK to achieve it."
