More than 100 new apartments are to be built in Salford, Manchester.

The £22.5 million project involves building a new 11-storey apartment block comprising 108 'affordable' homes on Canon Green Drive in Trinity.

In addition, the ageing Canon Green Court tower block will be transformed and modernised, while the neighbouring Westminster House apartment block will undergo an external facelift.

The refurbishment at Canon Green Court, which was built during the 1960s, includes new kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, sprinkler systems and exterior re-facing and insulation.

Salix Homes will now appoint a contractor for the project and it is hoped work will start on site later this year.
