VolkerHighways has won a new £7.3 million contract to carry out street lighting maintenance work for Bristol City Council.

The three-year deal will begin on 01 August and will see a number of the city's street lights replaced with new, energy efficient LED lanterns, complete with a central management system (CMS).

In addition, VolkerHighways will undertake planned and reactive maintenance on Bristol's street lights and traffic signs for the duration of the contract. The company will also take on three apprentices during the contract term, as well as providing 10 work experience places and three work placements.

Alistair Thompson, Managing Director of VolkerHighways, said: "We are pleased to have been awarded this new contract and look forward to working with the Bristol City Council team in the delivery of their new LED lighting programme, as well as supporting a number of local employment programmes.
