Construction work has started on a new £20 million hotel project in Stoke-on-Trent.
The 140-bed Hilton Garden Inn will be built by Pochin's and is the first Hilton branded hotel in Stoke.
Work is now underway on the 17-month build programme and the Hilton Garden Inn is scheduled to open in late 2019.
The scheme forms part of the £170m Smithfield development, which will deliver one million sq ft of Grade A office, residential, leisure and retail space, creating a new and dynamic mixed-use quarter in Hanley. Pochin's is also on-site at Smithfield with the construction of a 151-unit Build-to-Rent residential development.
Richard Ingham, partner at Genr8 Developments, said: "We're excited to be bringing the Hilton name to Stoke-on-Trent. Reaching this important milestone is testament to all of the partners involved. Stoke-on-Trent is a city on the up and the new hotel will be an important addition for both the business and tourism industries in the region."
Jon Adams, Managing Director of Pochin's construction division, said: "We pride ourselves on developing long-term partnerships that result in quality additions to the local community. Our relationship with Genr8 is a perfect example of that partner-led approach and will ensure we're able to deliver another major project for Stoke-on-Trent to the highest standard."
