BAM has been selected to deliver two multi-storey car park (MSCP) schemes for Manchester Airports Group (MAG) worth around £60 million.
At Manchester Airport, the company's North west team has already started work to build a new 6,500-space meet and greet MSCP at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. The first section of spaces on the £34m scheme are set to be delivered by August, with an anticipated overall completion date of April 2019.
Elsewhere, BAM's South East team is carrying out a £26m project at Stansted Airport to develop and deliver a 2,500 space MSCP on five upper levels. Designed by architects Pascall+Watson, The project is expected to be completed in May 2019.
Both contracts were awarded to BAM under MAG's capital delivery framework.
North West Pre-Construction Director, Adrian Blackie, who is BAM's framework lead, said: "We have delivered a diverse range of schemes under the MAG framework. This shows our versatility across sectors and our ability to work collaboratively to fulfil the client's brief. The T1 and T3 multi storey scheme went through a patient design refresh. We were able to assist the client to evolve the design in partnership to get it ready to commence on site and deliver much needed car parking for the summer of 2018."
Brian Connor, South East Construction Director added: "This is a great opportunity for the region to demonstrate its ability to work on an airport scheme and it's very pleasing to see the confidence that MAG has in BAM now producing work outside Manchester too."
