A project milestone has been reached on a new £5.9 million boarding house for Tring Park School in Hertfordshire.

Stepnell has completed the four-storey concrete frame of the structure and completion is on schedule for April next year.

Once finished, the accommodation will provide 70 student bedrooms as well as ensuite bathrooms and private study spaces, five academic and vocational teaching spaces, four new common room spaces, two staff apartments, communal kitchen facilities and a theatre workshop.

Designed by Burrell Foley Fischer architects, the facility will be built using modern and innovative construction techniques including the use of factory-built modular bathroom pods.

Stepnell Contracts Manager, Jamie White, said: "We are delighted to be working with Tring Park School on this fantastic new building which is being built to a very high specification.

"As part of our commitment to providing hands-on training opportunities for students pursuing construction-related careers, we have employed a university graduate taking a year out from studies as a site engineer for this scheme."

Anselm Barker, deputy principal at Tring Park School, added: "We are all thrilled with the speed with which the main framework of the building has grown; the progress is visible on a daily basis.

"Everyone is very excited about the improvements this new facility will bring to the pastoral, vocational and academic sides of the school."
