WSP has been appointed to help deliver a new £22 million student accommodation project in Bristol.
The new 327-bed facility will be located in St Thomas' Street in Bristol.
Over the next few weeks, work will begin to demolish at three-storey office building and replace it with a new nine-storey student accommodation facility featuring 357 student rooms, a Ground Floor occupied by a mix of commercial and student hub space and a basement housing plant and a large cycle store.
Current proposals for the site is to form the new building in flat slab reinforced concrete construction, which would allow the building to be adapted in the future for a different use if necessary. These proposals have been initiated by WSP as part of their 'Future Ready' programme incorporated into all of their projects that will help encourage retention and continual use of this site.
Overall, WSP will provide mechanical and electrical, civil and structural engineering services, as well as providing fire and vertical transportation services.
Peter Bone, Technical Director at WSP and project manager, said: "We are delighted to have been appointed by F3 Group to provide civil and structural together with mechanical and electrical engineering design services for this exciting and challenging project in the heart of Bristol."
