Costain Wins £150m Contract

Costain has won a £150 million contract to carry out smart motorway works along the M6 for Highways England.

The M6 J21a-26 smart motorway deal will see Costain design and deliver the scheme across a 16km length of the route to increase capacity and improve journey reliability.

The scheme, which is expected to be completed by Spring 2021, will involve the installation of road-side technology and new infrastructure focused on improving the driver experience.

Andrew Wyllie CBE, Chief Executive, said: "This contract builds on our strong track record, working with Highways England, to apply technology-based solutions to increase the capacity and improve the reliability of the UK's road infrastructure."
