Chelsea Football Club (FC) has revealed it is putting its plans for a new £500 million stadium on hold.
Last year, the Club secured planning permission to expand its Stamford Bridge site from 41,798 seats to 60,000.
However in a statement today, 31 May, Chelsea revealed it had decided to halt progress on the project "due to the current unfavourable investment climate".
"Chelsea Football Club announces today that it has put its new stadium project on hold," the Club said.
"No further pre-construction design and planning work will occur. The club does not have a time frame set for reconsideration of its decision."
