Up to 750 new homes are to be delivered by Kier Living in Northamptonshire.
Homes England has selected Kier as its residential development partner to deliver the £200 million scheme across a 48-hectare site in Hardingstone.
The three-phase development will delivered 250 units per phase and work is scheduled to start on site this month. Features will include a wide range of community facilities such as a new primary school, medical centre and pharmacy, leisure facilities, as well as office and retail space.
The project will help towards the Government's plans to deliver 300,000 new homes each year, as well as addressing regional need as identified in the National Housing Federation’s ‘Homes Truths’ report1 revealing a shortfall of 25,000 homes built in the East Midlands between 2012 – 2016.
John Anderson, Executive Director of Kier Living, said: "I am delighted that Kier Living has been chosen by Homes England as their preferred delivery partner for such an important development of 750 new homes, a school and other valuable community facilities including 180 affordable homes, at a time of such ongoing market need.
"Experts estimate that we need around 300,000 new homes a year across the UK to keep up with demand, and with such a strong public and political determination to build more homes. I’m encouraged that the DPP framework is being used to bring projects to fruition in an effective timeframe.
"Sites like this underpin our strategic goals to build 4,000 new homes per annum by 2021. A project of this scale also gives us tremendous scope to provide strong opportunities for local companies across the supply chain, to provide local jobs, and importantly to offer training and employment programmes to help bring young people from across Northamptonshire into our industry."
Paul Kitson, General Manager for the South East at Homes England, said: "Building on our successful long-term development of the Upton scheme in the south west district, we are looking forward to working with Kier and the local community to create a high-quality development in an area of Northampton that is experiencing increasing demand for new homes."
