Network Rail has started carrying out repair works on the railway line between Clacton on Sea and Colchester.
Engineers are working to repair the line after the track bed at Thorrington was washed away by a landslip on Thursday, 15 March.
Meliha Duymaz, Network Rail's route managing director for Anglia, said: "The landslip has caused extensive damage and our engineers will be working around the clock to carry out the repairs and reopen the line as soon as it is safe to do so. We expect the repair work to take at least two days and we will provide further updates as our work progresses."
