Work on a new £27 million teaching and learning centre at the University of York is now complete.
The Piazza Learning Centre has been built by Interserve as part of the University's development plan for Campus East.
Designed by architects Race Cottam Associates and project managed by Faithful and Gould, features include new teaching facilities with 36 flexible learning spaces that include two laboratories, as well as a 350-seat auditorium, 100-seat lecture room, a feature library, offices and a 300-seat restaurant, all spread across 6,800 square metres.
Interserve worked in collaboration with mechanical and electrical (M&E) partner NG Bailey on the scheme. The £4.2m M&E scheme delivered feature LED lighting installations in the atrium, restaurant and library, which helped the project achieve a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating.
John Gittins, divisional director at Interserve, said: "I am really proud of the team's performance in safely delivering this world class facility at the University of York. It is a fantastic building and reflects the University's commitment to provide an outstanding student experience.
"This is our second major project for the University, our first project being the Biology Phase 2 building on the Campus West and it has been a truly collaborative approach. Not only has it been delivered within budget, on time to a really high quality, but we have provided significant added value by creating local employment and apprenticeship opportunities."
