Work Complete On £7m Brinnington Park Leisure Complex

Work on a new £7 million sports and leisure centre in Stockport is now complete.

The new Brinnington Park Leisure Complex was built by Willmott Dixon and will replace the old

Lapwing facility which closed for the last time in late February.

Features include a new gym equipped with cutting edge fitness equipment, aerobics studio with weekly programme of classes, community room, boxing gym, a four court sports hall and an outdoor 3G football pitch. In addition, the facility will provide a home to numerous local sports clubs.

A ribbon-cutting ceremoy was held to mark the centre's opening on Thursday, 08 March.

Cllr Sheila Bailey said: "I'm thrilled with the new leisure complex in Brinnington and I'm positive that local people will be able to enjoy high quality and affordable facilities. I'd like to thank the local ward councillors, Council officers and partners for remaining focussed and persistent on delivering Brinnington's master plan and subsequent regeneration – this will enhance an already great community and place to live."

Anthony Dillon, Managing Director at Willmott Dixon, said: "We're delighted to have delivered this fantastic facility both on programme and on budget, it is a great team achievement.
