Morgan Sindall has been selected to deliver a £3.3 million upgrade project at South Molton Medical Centre in Devon.
Expansion and refurbishment work is now underway at the facility. Completion is scheduled for early 2019.
The scheme is being carried out for South Molton Health Centre & East Street Surgery and will allow staff to continue to provide modern day healthcare to patients.
Funding is being provided by the South Molton Medical Centre Partnership and the NHS England Estates and Technology Transformation Fund. The programme supports GP practices to make improvements to services for local patients, including more modern, expanded facilities and use of new technologies.
Nigel Whelan, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: "This development of South Molton Medical Centre will significantly enhance healthcare services for local residents. The upgrade to the medical centre will create a first-class, spacious facility that is suited for modern healthcare.
"Morgan Sindall is delighted to have been appointed to deliver the expansion and refurbishment and we look forward to handing over a much improved facility on completion."
Laila Pennington, Head of Primary Care for NHS England in the South West, said: "These are really exciting plans that the surgery has developed – they should make a real difference for patients. We're pleased to be able to add funding to an impressive scheme that will stand the town in good stead for years to come."
