Work is to begin on a £300,000 water infrastructure improvement project at a village in North Yorkshire.
A new sewer is to laid by Yorkshire Water through the village of Coneythorpe near Knaresborough. The current sewer runs through nearby woodland and is at risk of bursting due to its age.
The new pipe will be installed within the road to allow easier access for future maintenance and reduce the risk of pollution to a nearby watercourse.
Work is scheduled to get underway on Monday, 12 February. To carry out the scheme safely, the Shortsill Lane will be closed to the south of Coneythorpe to through traffic for around four months. Diversions will be in place.
Yorkshire Water spokesperson, John Bond, said: "We've liaised closely with the local highways department and have had to close the road for safety reasons. We'd like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to motorists and commuters whilst we complete this important project which will bring about significant environmental benefits for the area."
