The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) has welcomed the appointment of Dominic Raab as the new Housing Minister.
Following Prime Minister Theresa May's cabinet reshuffle, Mr Raab takes over from Alok Sharma, who has taken up a minister for employment role in the Department for Work and Pensions.
He is the fourth Housing Minister in three years and the seventh overall since the Conservative’s came to power in 2010. Communities and Local Government Secretary, Sajid Javid, has also had housing added to his remit following the PM's cabinet overhaul.
Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the FMB, said the organisation hopes Mr Raab will be given longer to take forward housing policy than his recent predecessors.
"Once again we have a new Housing Minister, which doesn’t really help build the continuity and greater certainty that the sector needs," he said.
"However, Dominic Raab is an able and influential Conservative MP who we hope will bring a new energy and focus to the brief. We welcome him to the role and look forward to working with him. We hope that his focus will be on continuing to develop and implement a range of good sound policies which have already been set out by Government in the Housing White Paper and other statements."
