Fire Breaks Out At University Of Bristol's Fry Building

A fire has caused damage to a building under renovation at the University of Bristol.

The blaze broke out at the top floor of the Fry Building in Woodland Road on Saturday, 06 January.

The five-storey building is currently undergoing a £19 million refurbishment by Balfour Beatty, as part of a £33m renovation and remodelling programme to create a new home for the University's School of Mathematics.

Avon Fire & Rescue Service said: "Firefighters from six fire engines, two turntable ladders and support vehicles tackled the fire which involved the top floor of the building.

"The building is currently under renovation and no one was believed to have been in the building at the time of the fire. There have been no reports of any injuries."

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.
