Plans Submitted For Next Phase Of Stockport Exchange Regeneration

Plans have been submitted for the next phase of a £145 million regeneration scheme in Stockport.

Muse Developments are working with Stockport Council to deliver the next stage of the Stockport Exchange project, following the success of two previous phases.

The first stage, completed in 2014, involved building a 1,000-space multi-storey car park for the scheme. Works on phase two, finished in December 2016, involved developing a new public realm, a new office building (One Stockport Exchange) providing 43,000 sq ft of office space over four floors along with a 6,000 sq ft ground floor unit and a 115-bed Holiday Inn Express hotel.

Plans for the third phase include developing a new 60,000 sq ft six-storey office building next to the existing One Stockport Exchange building. Outline planning approval is already in place for the scheme, with a reserved matters planning application submitted.

Work is scheduled to start in site this summer, with completion expected in spring 2020.

Once finished, the overall scheme will deliver up to 375,000 sq ft of office space and 28,000 sq ft of commercial floor space.

Wes Erlam, development director at Muse, said: "The first two phases at Stockport Exchange have been a great commercial success, as well as completely transforming the area around the train station into a welcoming and attractive new public space.

"We're now looking to deliver a further office building, which will bring more jobs to the area and add to the vibrancy of this new commercial quarter."
