STM Revisiting Hutton Rudby Tennis Court Construction

Construction News Image
In Spring 2016, Hutton Rudby Tennis Club in North Yorkshire decided on a complete resurfacing project for their five tennis courts.

The club is used regularly by players of all different levels and had quite reached the end of its lifespan as the courts had been down nearly 20 years. Construction members STM were on the case.

Nationwide installers Synthetic Turf Management (STM), based in North Yorkshire, are a leading artificial turf installer specialising in sports and, in particular, tennis.

Three adult and two junior courts were designed, supplied and installed with British manufactured ITF (International Tennis Federation) approved artificial grass. Artificial grass is quickly becoming the go-to product for tennis due to its excellent grip and ability to look like the perfect manicured lawn which is super-durable and able to be used in all weather conditions.

As the turf doesn't hold water, play can be maximised which means it was the perfect product for the club. Along with a brand new bespoke fencing system and new nets, the courts had been completely revamped and looked phenomenal.

Last month, Chair Pam Dodds revisited the project and spoke highly of the install: "STM worked closely with us to allow us to help and understand how to maintain the courts, which is a vital part of ensuring their longevity."

STM provide a thorough maintenance schedule for the courts and were very impressed with how well the court had been looked after throughout the past 18 months.
