REL Electrical has completed work to install electrical services at a new £35 million mixed-use scheme in London.
The M&E contractor was appointed by Kershaw Mechanical Services to deliver the £1.5m scheme for the Ebury Centre project.
Designed by Sheppard Robson and built by Bouygues UK for developer Linkcity, the Ebury Centre combines educational facilities and a 10-storey residential development on a site next to Ebury Bridge.
REL installed electrical services at the new 5,200 sq m University Technical College (UTC). Work included installing power, lighting, security systems and access control as well as 120 solar panels on the roof.
The facility will provide space for 550 pupils and includes workshops for engineering, gym and sports facilities and a large outdoor terrace.
The UTC sits alongside 47 residential units which will be completed in early 2018. REL is also carrying out the electrical works for this part of the scheme.
Toby Buckley, Managing Director of REL, said: "This was a tight programme that had to be completed within 10 months.
"We also had to ensure that the electrical elements met the high environmental targets as the UTC has been designed to meet the BREEAM Excellent standard. This has resulted in a low-energy lighting system and extensive use of photovoltaic panels providing 12% of the energy requirements."
Sunil Rana, Project Director at Bouygues UK, said: "REL's technical support, teamwork and can-do approach were key factors in the success of this project. The team was very helpful throughout and we look forward to working with them again."
