Morrison Utility Services (MUS) has started work to replace 500 metres of water pipe in Denholme.
The £280,000 project involves the section of old cast iron water pipe running under Keighley Road being replaced with a more robust plastic water pipe to help reduce future bursts.
The scheme will take nine weeks to complete. No work will take place over the Christmas and New Year period. For safety reasons, traffic lights will be in place during the work.
Nick Smith, Project Manager at Yorkshire Water, said: "There have been several bursts that have impacted local residents and this important piece of work will help reduce the risk of this happening in the future and will secure water supplies in the area.
"I'd like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out this work and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
