G F Tomlinson Starts Work On New £12.5m Keele University Laboratory

G F Tomlinson has started work on a new £12.5 million laboratory facility at Keele University.

The 'Central Science Laboratories' project will link to the University's existing Lennard Jones building and is scheduled to be complete by summer 2019.

The four-storey building, part of a £45m investment by the University into its science facilities, will include open-plan laboratories alongside breakout spaces for students of the Natural Sciences and the School of Pharmacy.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held earlier this month at the site to mark the start of construction.

Andy Kay, contracts manager at G F Tomlinson said: "We're proud to be delivering these first-class educational facilities, which will have a positive and lasting impact on the university and its students for many years to come.

"At G F Tomlinson, we're well experienced in working in higher education settings, having previously established good working relationships with other universities across the UK.

"We look forward to working with Keele University to create a positive partnership and deliver a project that meets their specific needs."

Professor Jonathan Wastling, pro vice-chancellor and executive dean at Keele University said: "We're thrilled to see work starting on site. The Faculty of Natural Sciences integrates world-class research with the very best teaching and the latest innovations, which will be further boosted by this major investment, building scientific skills and facilitating research into the issues relevant to our sustainable development, health and well-being, and quality of life."
