Work is underway on a new £4.8 million housing development in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

Morgan Sindall is building 10 homes on the site of the former Museum of St Albans as part of the council's plan to develop a new cultural hub in the city centre.

Located on Hatfield Road, the scheme will contain four four-bedroom and two, three-bedroom open-plan units. A bungalow on the site will be levelled and replaced with four terraced homes, each featuring four bedrooms.

Morgan Sindall was selected for the scheme through the Pagabo National Framework for Major Construction Works.

Sean Bradley, managing director for Morgan Sindall's London and Northern Home Counties region, said: "The Museum of St Albans housing scheme is a transformational project that will form part of the council's exciting new vision to regenerate the city centre.

"This is a significant project for St Albans and we're delighted to have the opportunity to work with the council to deliver these new homes, which we hope will provide a valued addition to the local community."

Cllr Julian Daly added: "The development of the former museum site with our partners Morgan Sindall is on schedule and will create ten new homes in a high demand area."
