McMullen Facades Wins £11m Contract

McMullen Facades has secured an £11 million contract to help deliver a new specialist cancer centre hospital in Liverpool.

The company will develop a new facade for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust's new specialist hospital, which will be located adjacent to the existing Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the University of Liverpool.

Work will start on site in April 2018, with overall completion for the scheme expected in 2020.

Designed by architects BDP, the 11-storey facility will be built by Laing O'Rourke to play an important role in improving cancer services across Merseyside and Cheshire.

As part of McMullen's scope of works, the team will undertake the design, manufacture and installation of the fenestration package, including both unitised and stick curtain wall systems, bolted glass systems, aluminium doors, windows and rooflights. Both the unitised and stick curtain walling will be manufactured at McMullen's own UK manufacturing facility.

McMullen will also deliver the rainscreen and cladding package that comprises a mix of transparent, translucent, opaque and graduated fritted panels.
