Interserve has been selected to deliver a new mixed-used development in Birmingham.

The company will deliver a new Sainsbury's superstore, a 418-bed student accommodation facility, 11 retail units and parking facilities on a major brownfield site in the Selly Oak area of the city.

The company will also prepare the site for an eight-pump petrol filling station, undertake hard and soft landscaping, and create a footbridge over a canal.

Work is now underway on the 'Selly Oak Shopping Park' with completion of the shops scheduled for autumn 2018, followed soon afterwards by the opening of the Sainsbury's store. The student accommodation will be completed in time for the start of the 2019 academic year.

The project is being carried out on behalf of The Harvest Partnership, a joint venture between Landsec and Sainsbury's.
