Industry consultancy Sweco has been selected to help deliver a programme of residential developments in Croydon.
The firm will work alongside the council's development company, Brick by Brick, to provide mechanical and electrical engineering, transport planning, civil engineering and environmental advice.
Brick by Brick is planning to develop 90 sites and deliver 1,000 new homes over the next three years. Its planned schemes recently claimed the Unbuilt Housing award at the New London Architecture Awards.
Colm Lacey, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Brick by Brick, said: "We have an ambitious aim of developing 1,000 high quality, new homes across the borough of Croydon by 2019, providing access to affordable housing for residents in the area.
"We are happy to be working with Sweco on this important residential development programme that will transform the availability of housing in Croydon. The work undertaken by Sweco will ensure our projects are designed with efficiency and sustainability in mind and provide a fantastic place to live for the residents."
Mark Fitch, head of transport planning at Sweco's London office, added: "We are very proud to be working with Brick by Brick and Croydon Council to help deliver high-quality and affordable housing projects in the borough.
"The work we will undertake will ensure the developments are designed with an efficient and safe transport infrastructure in place, as well as ensuring the projects are built in an environmentally friendly and cost effective way. We are looking forward to assisting Croydon Council in achieving its ambitious development aims over the coming years."
