Clarion Housing Group has started work on a new 'affordable' housing development in south-west London.
A total of 74 new homes are being built on the 0.66-hectare site of the disused Thames Water depot at Fortescue Road in Colliers Wood, Merton.
The scheme, which includes 58 units for shared ownership, 11 for 'affordable' rent and five starter homes, is being delivered by contractors Skillcrown and completion is scheduled for late summer 2019.
Philip Browne, New Business and Partnerships Director at Clarion said: "This scheme further underlines Clarion's significant and ongoing commitment to the borough of Merton.
"We are particularly pleased to be bringing brownfield land back into use and delivering high quality affordable homes to those who are struggling to buy through the private market."
Elsewhere, Clarion has secured permission for 21 new homes on the garages site at Ravensbury and for 134 on land not currently used for housing at High Path. Construction of the first new homes on the disused site at Ravensbury is due to begin in early 2018.
Overall, the projects are part of the Group's plans to transform three existing estates in Merton, representing a £1 billion investment in the borough and delivering 2,800 new homes.
