The McAvoy Group has secured an £8.2 million contract to deliver a new primary school in East London.

The new 630-place Concordia Academy scheme will be built in Romford. Completion is scheduled in time for September 2018.

Designed by Blue Sky Architects, the 2,972m2 three-form entry free school will be created using McAvoy's offsite solution. Modular construction will significantly reduce disruption to the surrounding residential area and will cut the build programme to just 12 months.

The first of 67 modules will arrive on site in the autumn. McAvoy has also provided a suite of interim school buildings for the academy, until its new building opens next year.

Facilities will include a music and drama studio, main hall with adjacent smaller hall, 14 classrooms, full catering kitchen, activity room, small group learning rooms, staff room and administration offices.

Raymond Millar, Construction Director of principal contractor McAvoy, said: "We are delighted to be building this wonderful new school which will provide much needed primary school places for the local community in Romford.
