Work Starts On £3.6m Water Infrastructure Upgrade In Goole

Construction News Image
Yorkshire Water has started work on a £3.6 million water infrastructure investment scheme in Goole.

The project at Cowick Water Treatment Works involves installing new technology which will see water pumped out of the ground from an aquifer before being treated and pumped into the water pipe network.

The water is disinfected by Ultra Violet light and receives a very small dose of Sodium Hypochlorite to make sure it is safe to drink.

Speaking during a site visit last week to view the scheme's progress, Local MP Andrew Percy said: "It was great to visit this facility with Yorkshire Water and to view their multi-million pound investment in improving drinking water in the Goole and Snaith area. To think we are benefiting from innovative technology that treats our water with bacteria killing UV light is fantastic.

"Coupled with the tens of millions of pounds Yorkshire Water have invested in improved drainage locally since the flooding of 2010 and 2011, it is clear that the company has made a priority if investing in our area. I'll continue to work with them on further improvements locally, such as the scheme currently underway in the Attlee Drive area of Goole."
