Work is to begin on the next phase of a £75 million transport upgrade scheme in Stockport.
The Town Centre Access Plan (TCAP) will link the A6 with Travis Brow. The new Travis Brow Link Road will create another vital route for traffic around Stockport town centre helping reduce both journey times and congestion for motorists.
In addition, a new bridge will be built across the River Mersey as part of the transport interchange development, while new public areas will be created in the town centres.
Works already carried out under the TCAP programme include transforming Prince's Street into a new area for shoppers, new public spaces at Stockport Exchange and Redrock and additional cycle routes throughout the town centre.
Cllr Kate Butler said: "We are committed to improving transport networks for residents, businesses and commuters and the next phase of TCAP will continue the good work already in place. Stockport’s connectivity is one of its great strengths. Our investment work is building on this helping to bring new jobs and opportunities into the town for everyone to enjoy."
