Up to 450 new homes are to the built in Preston.
The housing scheme will be developed on the former Ingol golf course as part of a proposal by Preston North End to build to a new training ground, as well as an area of new public open space.
The application was originally rejected in June as councillors believed the scheme "would result in the merger of existing neighbourhoods and settlements, failing to protect their identity and local distinctiveness".
Proposals were then re-submitted with more public land added to the development.
In a statement, Preston North End said the club was "delighted" with the decision.
"We will now start the hard work of turning the planning consent into reality," it said.
