Wates Begins Cumbria Recruitment Drive

Wates has started hunting for local workers to deliver its development projects across Cumbria.

The recruitment drive comes as the company undertakes a number of schemes in the region, including building BAE Systems Submarines' new Central Training Facility in Barrow and the flagship £30 million Campus Whitehaven development.

In addition, Wates recently announced its order book for Cumbria has grown to over £50m, 12 months since it began its regional expansion in 2016.

Tony Shenton, Business Unit Director of Wates Construction North West, said: "The success of our business' growth within Cumbria has been accomplished due to the skill and expertise we have within our team and maintaining this level of proficiency, as our work pipeline grows, is reliant on recruiting the very best in the industry.

"Local employment and training has been a huge priority for us since we began our expansion into the county in 2016 and we're very keen to attract local people to our new positions while also attracting more people to live and work in this great county."
