Morgan Sindall has won a £2.2 million contract to refurbish Nuffield Health Taunton Hospital in Somerset.

The contractor is redeveloping three areas at the hospital including a surgical theatre block, an endoscopy suite and a Grade II listed building.

During the scheme, Morgan Sindall will repair the external façade of the Grade II listed building and replace the roof of the theatre block. The project team will also replace floors, walls and ceilings inside the theatres and upgrade the electrical and mechanical systems.

Nigel Whelan, area manager at Morgan Sindall, said: "We are delighted to be delivering these important renovations at Nuffield Health Taunton Hospital that will see the theatre complex transformed into a modern, fit-for-purpose surgical facility.

"Nuffield Health Taunton Hospital has been serving the local community for over 40 years and we are looking forward to providing major improvements to this disused part of the hospital to ensure that the building is preserved for years to come."
