Plans have been lodged for a new £30 million art, design and architecture building at the University of Huddersfield.

Construction on the Barbara Hepworth Building is scheduled to get underway in autumn this year.

Designed by architectural practice AHR, the project will be delivered by Morgan Sindall by autumn 2019.


The five-storey 7,500 square metre building will be the first building on a former industrial site cleared in 2016, now known as the Western Campus.

In addition, the building will occupy around 20% of the site, leaving some 20,000 sq ms and scope for at least four more buildings as part of the University of Huddersfield's rolling programme of development.
