Morgan Sindall has been selected to carry out a £3.8 million school expansion scheme in Bedfordshire.
The project at Etonbury Academy will follow on from a previous £6.8m expansion delivered by the firm for Bedfordshire East Multi Academy Trust (BEMAT) last year.
The previous project delivered a new staff room, dining room, four-court sports hall and refurbishments to the entrance of the school. The company also built the three-storey teaching block, which is now being extended under phase two of the project.
Other features included an all-weather sports pitch and a new fitness centre.
Work is now underway on the second stage, which includes an extension to an existing three-storey teaching block and building housing Year Five, and the delivery of a steel-frame reception building. The Year Five block will be completed in time for the new academic school year, with overall completion scheduled for 2018.
Each structure will have a traditional brickwork exterior in keeping with the existing teaching blocks and the project team will also expand the playground and car parking facilities.
Alex Prior, Principal at Etonbury Academy said: "We are delighted to be continuing to work with the Morgan Sindall team who successfully delivered phase one of this project. We are looking forward to the further site enhancements and capacity this project will bring for our current students and generations to come."
Neil Franklin, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: "We're pleased to have been appointed to this important scheme at Etonbury Academy. Our re-appointment is a testament to the highly experienced and skilled project team who were awarded a national accolade for their work on the project."
