More than 900 new homes are to be built in Barking, London.
House builder Countryside has formed a new partnership with Notting Hill Housing to deliver a £330 million regeneration gateway scheme in the town centre.
A total of 911 homes will be built at Fresh Wharf in the town centre. Work will start in 2018, with completion scheduled for 2026.
Features will include -bedroom townhouses as well as high-quality apartments buildings ranging from six to 15 storeys to the north of the site. A large new open park will form the centrepiece of the development and 44% of the properties will have an allocated parking space.
Graham Cherry, Chief Executive of Countryside Partnerships South, said: "This is an exciting new development in an increasingly popular London location. The site is identified as one of the largest residential sites within the Barking Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP), which makes a significant contribution towards the council’s target of some 6,000 new homes. We are looking forward to revitalising this area with our partner, Notting Hill Housing, and building much-needed new homes for London."
John Hughes, Group Development Director at Notting Hill Housing, added: "Our joint venture with Countryside brings this significant new development a step closer. We are pleased to be working again with Countryside to provide new homes for this vibrant area and to continue the significant improvement and regeneration that Barking has seen in recent years."
